# Connect and refresh Apple Health

Open **Plan > Settings > Apple Health** to request workout-history access or
refresh imported workouts. Connecting Apple Health is your choice. You can
keep planning and recording workouts in Momentum without it.

## Choose whether to share workout history

Apple Health import reads workout history that Apple Health makes available
to Momentum. Use an iPhone or iPad that supports this access, and choose
whether to share your workout data when Apple asks.

If **Apple Health Unavailable** appears, Momentum cannot import workout history
right now. You can still use Momentum without the integration.

## Connect, then check for workouts

1. Open **Plan**.
2. Open the Plan options menu.
3. Tap **Settings**.
4. Tap **Apple Health**.
5. Tap **Connect Apple Health** if it appears.
6. Complete Apple's access request with the permissions you want to allow.

Momentum then checks for readable workouts. Completing the request does not
confirm that you granted read access.

If you have already completed the request:

1. Open **Plan > Settings > Apple Health**.
2. Tap **Refresh Apple Health** to check for changes. This control is
unavailable while a check is running.
3. Open a row under **Imported Workouts** to review its details, if any appear.

## Read the import result

**Imported** shows the count of workouts presented as imported history.
**Imported Workouts** lists them most recent first and loads more as you
scroll. Their details retain the Apple Health source.

The status message reports import progress or the time of the last successful
check. A successful check can return no workouts; it does not prove that every
workout arrived or that read access is enabled.

The first import checks the previous 12 months. Later refreshes check for
changes since the previous import. Refresh is not an all-history import
control.

## If workouts do not appear

Start with the message Momentum shows:

- **Couldn't Connect Apple Health** means the access request did not finish.
Tap **Try Again** to repeat it.
- If the import status says the last check did not finish, tap
**Refresh Apple Health**. A failed check is not evidence that your existing
  imported workouts were deleted.
- **Couldn't Load Workouts** means Momentum could not read the imported list
on this device. Tap **Try Again** to reload the list.
- **No Imports** in Settings does not tell you whether access was declined or
no readable workouts were available. Apple Health does not disclose
  read-permission denial to Momentum.

For an empty list or a missing workout, check that the workout appears in
Apple Health. Review Momentum's access in the device's **Settings** app under
**Privacy & Security > Health**, then return to Momentum and refresh. These
checks do not require removing imported history.

A workout may lack individual metrics because its source did not record them
or the relevant data is not available to Momentum. Refresh cannot create
missing data or guarantee immediate import.

Apple Health import reads external workout history.
It is separate from account cloud sync.
An imported workout remains distinct from a Momentum-recorded workout.
It does not establish completion of a scheduled workout without a stable
link.
