# Momentum's training structure

A Program gives you a reusable starting point. When you add it, Momentum
creates your own dated training plan: workouts land on specific days, each
attempt records what you did, and that history stays separate from the
template and schedule.

## From a Program to your history

A **Program** is a reusable multiweek template in **Library**. It gives you
curated training to start from without becoming your personal schedule.

A **training plan** is that personal schedule. It has dates of its own, and you
can edit it without changing the source Program.

Inside a training plan, a **schedule series** describes when an authored
workout is scheduled, whether once or on a repeating pattern. Each **scheduled
workout** is one occurrence from that series on one date. The series and the
dated workout keep separate identities.

When you train, a **performed attempt** records what happened without replacing
the planned workout. Momentum keeps an attempt that finished all planned work
as a **completed workout**. If you stop before all planned work is finished, it
becomes an **ended-early workout** instead.

## How a training week takes shape

Adding a Program creates a dated training plan alongside any training plans you
already use. You can adjust that personal schedule as your week changes while
the Program remains the reusable source.

A schedule series places authored workouts on dates. Each scheduled workout is
available on its date in **Plan**. When you train, Momentum records a new
performed attempt and carries the result into history as completed or ended
early.

Over time, the schedule shows what was planned and history shows what you
recorded. That separation keeps a later schedule change from rewriting the
work you performed.

## What stays separate

Editing a training plan does not edit its source Program or another training
plan. Changing or ending a training plan does not erase its completed history
or source attribution.

Repeating a history item creates a new performed attempt; it does not edit the
earlier result. Planned values remain prescriptions, while history contains
recorded facts from the performed attempt. The two can differ.
