# Understand exercise guidance

Open **Library** > **Exercises** to find movements by muscle or equipment.
Each exercise explains the movement, suggested starting values, and form
cues. Use these as catalog guidance, not advice tailored to you.

## Find a movement and read its guidance

### Browse the exercise collections

| Collection | What it contains |
| --- | --- |
| **Start Here** | A featured selection of exercises. |
| **Browse by Muscle** | Exercises that name the selected muscle as a primary or secondary muscle. |
| **Browse by Equipment** | Exercises that use the selected equipment. |
| **All Exercises** | A preview of the catalog; tap **See All** to open the full collection. |

Tap an exercise to open its details. The muscle and equipment labels
describe the movement, and **About** gives an overview.

### Read the starting values and cues

**Starting Point** shows the exercise's default prescription:

| Label | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **SETS x REPS** | The default number of sets and repetitions per set. A single set shows its rep count. |
| **STARTING LOAD** | The default external load, shown in your selected weight unit, or **Bodyweight** when no external starting load is specified. |
| **REST** | The default rest between sets. |

**Form Cues** lists the exercise's technique guidance in numbered order.
These cues and starting values describe the catalog exercise, not a workout
you have already performed.

## Choose an available exercise

Use Momentum on iPhone or iPad and open an exercise available in
**Library** > **Exercises**. You can read its guidance without creating a
workout. If you have a movement in mind, use **Search** in Library instead.

## Use defaults as a reference

The starting values are not calculated from your strength, fatigue, or
health. Form cues do not assess your technique. An equipment collection
groups exercises by what they use; it does not check what you own.

Opening an exercise from Library does not add it to a workout. To use it
in a strength workout, open **Add Exercise** in the workout builder and
choose and configure it there.

If exercise loading fails, Momentum can show bundled exercises instead.
That content may not include the latest catalog changes. Try opening the
exercise library again after a loading error.
