# Use workout actions

Get a quick answer about training or take the next action without finding
every control in Momentum. Open **Shortcuts** on your iPhone and find Momentum's
app shortcuts. You can also ask Siri to run a workout request.

## Choose a quick request or a workout action

Open Momentum on your iPhone before looking for its actions in Apple's
**Shortcuts** app. Unlock the iPhone when asked. To use spoken requests,
enable Siri on that iPhone.

**Start Workout** needs a suggested planned or recent strength workout.
Workout controls need an active strength workout. Queries can still return
an empty result, and completed Momentum workouts populate **Weekly Summary**.

## Find and run a Momentum action

1. Open **Shortcuts** and find **Momentum** among the app shortcuts.
2. Choose the shortcut you want to run.
3. If the action asks for **Workout**, select the workout you intend to use.
4. Read or listen to the result.

| Shortcut | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Start Workout** | Starts a selected planned or recent strength workout. |
| **Next Workout** | Finds today's or the next suggested planned strength workout. |
| **Active Workout** | Reports the current exercise and set, or the workout's rest, pause, or completed state. |
| **Pause Workout** | Pauses the active workout. |
| **Resume Workout** | Resumes a paused workout. |
| **Log Current Set** | Records the current set using its planned reps and weight. |
| **Skip Rest** | Ends the current rest. |
| **Weekly Summary** | Reports completed Momentum workouts, active minutes, and completed sets. |

If your actual reps or weight differ from the plan, enter them in Momentum
instead of using **Log Current Set**.

With Siri enabled, try “What's my next workout in Momentum” for a query or
“Pause my Momentum workout” to pause an active workout.

### Include an action in your own shortcut

Open the app shortcut's more-options menu and choose **Use in New Shortcut**.
Review its parameters before running it. For **Get workout summary**, set
**Period** to **This Week** or **Last 7 Days**; **This Week** is the default.

You can also use **Add Action** in a personal shortcut and search for
**Edit workout in Momentum**. Select its **Workout** parameter. This additional
action opens scheduled-workout details or an independent editable copy of a
recent workout in Momentum. It does not rewrite the recorded workout.

## Check what the action returned

Asking about a workout does not start it. Control actions change the active
workout only when its state allows that action.

**Start Workout** does not silently replace an active workout. If Momentum
reports that one is already active, open it and decide what to do next.

Siri and ordinary Shortcuts actions require device authentication. Their
access rules differ from the controls on a Live Activity.

## When a request needs the app

If Momentum is missing from Shortcuts, open Momentum, then check Shortcuts
again. The system controls when actions appear; Siri recognition and suggestions
are not guaranteed.

The workout list is deliberately short: up to four planned strength workouts
within 14 days starting today, plus up to four strength workouts from the latest
12 history entries. If the workout you want is missing, find it in Momentum.
**Next Workout** does not search beyond that planned window or include endurance
workouts.

**Weekly Summary** counts at most 50 completed Momentum workouts in the selected
period. It excludes ended-early workouts and Apple Health imports. **This Week**
follows your local calendar; it is not the Weekly Momentum adherence report
in **Progress**.

If a request cannot access workout data, that does not mean you have no
workouts. Unlock the iPhone normally and open Momentum. If a selection is no
longer available or a control reports a change, check the workout before trying
again. Do not repeat a logging request just because its result was unclear.
