Train with Apple Watch
Keep your strength session on your wrist. Open Momentum on Apple Watch, choose an available strength workout, and check the reps and weight before logging each set. You can record sets locally without granting Health access or keeping a live connection to iPhone.
Get the workout onto your Watch
Use Momentum on a paired iPhone and Apple Watch. Open Momentum on iPhone with your scheduled strength workout, then open Momentum on Apple Watch. Wait until the workout appears before starting from the Watch. This guide covers rep-and-weight sets.
If you see No workouts, open Momentum on iPhone to refresh the stored plan. A stored plan is not a promise that every workout is still eligible; an outdated or removed workout may need a fresh plan from iPhone.
Health access is optional for Momentum's local set log. Saving a workout to Apple Health requires workout write access on the Watch. Heart rate and active energy also depend on the read access and measurements available.
Work through your strength session
Start from the Watch
- Open Momentum on Apple Watch.
- Select the workout's day.
- If the day contains several workouts, tap Open Workouts.
- Select the strength workout's start control, labeled Start followed by its name for accessibility.
- If Record with Apple Health? appears, choose Continue with Apple Health to review Apple's permission request, or Continue Without Health to keep the workout in Momentum without a Health save.
- Let the countdown finish.
You can instead start the strength workout on iPhone. Momentum then attempts to open the Watch workout. If the Watch shows the Health choice, answer it there; opening the phone workout does not confirm Watch delivery. Do not start a second copy while waiting.
Check and log each set
- Tap the current rep or weight value to adjust it.
- Turn the Digital Crown or use Increase and Decrease.
- Tap Close to return to the workout.
- After performing the set, tap the action labeled Log set.
Adjusting a value prepares the current set; Log set records it. If you leave reps and weight unchanged, logging uses the planned values. Those values are your record, not independent measurements.
During rest, tap Skip rest to move on or +30, labeled Add 30 seconds of rest, to extend it. Swipe between workout pages to open Controls, then tap Pause or Resume as needed.
Finish or end early
Logging the final set opens Workout Complete. To stop sooner:
- Open Controls.
- Tap End Workout.
- Tap End Early to keep the completed sets and open the summary, or Keep Going to continue.
Review Workout Complete or Workout Ended, then tap Done when it becomes available.
Check the two save outcomes
Successfully logged sets persist in Momentum on the Watch while companion delivery may still be waiting. In Controls > Workout Status, check Local Save separately from iPhone delivery.
The summary reports the Apple Health save separately. Saved to Apple Health confirms that save; Saving to Apple Health does not. If Saved in Momentum appears with Try Apple Health Again, you can retry the Health save without recreating the workout. Not saved to Apple Health does not mean the Momentum set log was lost.
When you need a different next step
If the phone-started workout reports denied Health access, change Momentum's workout write permission in Health permissions, then tap Check Access on the Watch. You can also choose Continue Without Health. Permission to write a workout does not establish access to every measurement.
If Workout Interrupted appears, choose Resume Workout or End at Last Saved Activity. Do not delete local data to resolve a delivery delay. If a set fails to save, check the current set before logging again.
Momentum runs strength workouts on the Watch. A compatible endurance workout instead offers Open followed by its name and in Workout; that action opens Apple's Workout app, not Momentum's strength player. Opening it does not record completed training. Pairing, Apple's Workout app, and a compatible workout are required for that handoff.
