Build an endurance workout
Some sessions need one clear goal: a distance to cover, time to spend moving, or room to keep the endpoint open. Use Schedule Workout to build a run, ride, or swim, then add it to your calendar. You are planning the session here, not recording it.
Choose where the workout belongs
Use Momentum on an iPhone or iPad. Choose today or a future date inside an active training plan. A paused plan cannot receive the workout.
Set one goal for the session
Open the builder
- Open Plan.
- Select the date.
- Open Add.
- Select Schedule Workout.
- Choose the training plan if Momentum offers more than one.
- Select the run, ride, or swim activity.
Choose the location and goal
- Choose Indoor or Outdoor for a run or ride, or Pool or Open Water for a swim.
- Tap Continue.
- Select an available goal:
- Open leaves the endpoint open.
- Time sets a duration.
- Distance sets a distance.
- Energy sets an energy goal.
- Tap Continue.
- For Time, Distance, or Energy, set the value shown.
For distance, check the unit alongside the number. If you want work and recovery segments instead of one goal, choose Intervals and follow Build intervals.
Review and keep the workout
- Tap Review Workout.
- Check the receiving Plan.
- Open Schedule.
- Choose a one-time date or a repeating schedule.
- Return to the workout review.
- Tap Add Run, Add Ride, or Add Swim, matching the activity.
See Schedule a workout once or repeatedly for weekday, frequency, and ending choices.
Find the plan on your calendar
After a successful addition, Momentum saves the schedule locally, closes the review, and shows confirmation. Find the workout on its date in Plan.
Review Workout alone does not save the schedule. Adding the workout does not start a session, record a result, or confirm delivery to Apple's Workout app.
Keep the goal and the result separate
A distance goal does not predict how long you will take. Any estimated duration remains a planning estimate, not a time goal or a recorded result. When you open an existing workout, use the goals it actually contains; a duration estimate alone does not describe intervals or a distance target.
Available goals depend on the sport, location, and support in Apple's Workout app. Choose an available goal for the location where you will train. Open Water supports single-goal swims in this builder, not intervals.
If Couldn't Add Workout appears, follow its reason before trying again. Reopen scheduling if the receiving plan changed, or shorten the schedule or simplify the workout if it is too large.
Momentum does not live-track endurance workouts. A compatible workout's delivery to Apple's Workout app is separate from this local planning task.
Shape the next part
- Build intervals to combine work, recovery, and repeats.
- Schedule a workout once or repeatedly to choose its dates.
- Planned and performed values explains goals, estimates, and results.
- Sync and delivery explains what a local save does and does not confirm.
