Use Live Activities

Keep the current set within a glance between exercises. Allow Momentum's Live Activities in iPhone Settings, then start a strength workout in Momentum to follow it from the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island.

Get your workout in view

Use Momentum on your iPhone with Live Activities allowed. This guide follows an active strength workout, not a workout you have only scheduled.

Dynamic Island is optional and requires an iPhone that has it. You do not need to add a Home Screen widget to use a Live Activity.

Follow the set, then choose an action

  1. Open iPhone Settings and find Momentum's settings.
  2. Turn on Live Activities for Momentum if the option is available.
  3. Open Momentum and start your strength workout.
  4. View the activity on your Lock Screen. On an iPhone with Dynamic Island, touch and hold the activity to expand it.
  5. Choose the control that matches what you want to do.
Workout stateAvailable controls
Working on a setLog set records the current set; Pause pauses the workout.
RestingSkip rest ends the current rest; Pause pauses the workout.
PausedResume resumes the workout.

Log set records the set's planned reps and weight. If you did different reps or used a different weight, open Momentum to enter what you did instead.

The detailed view shows your exercise and set information with planned values. During work, the timer shows elapsed workout time; during rest, it shows time remaining. Pausing freezes elapsed time. Compact Dynamic Island views show less detail—expand the activity to reach the controls.

Return to the workout when you need more

Tap the activity outside its buttons to open the workout in Momentum.

After you complete the workout or end it early, its final view can remain on the Lock Screen for up to an hour. It no longer offers workout controls. Open Momentum to review your result; the system may remove the activity sooner.

If the activity is missing or out of date

Open Momentum and check the active workout first. If an action's result is unclear, check the current set before trying again. An old activity cannot reliably tell you what changed.

Check that Live Activities remain allowed for Momentum in iPhone Settings. System availability and display limits can prevent an activity from appearing or continuing. Opening the app does not guarantee an immediate update.

If the device asks you to unlock, unlock it normally. Protected workout data may be unavailable, so a visible control does not guarantee that the action can run.

Turning off Live Activities does not finish the workout or delete its saved data. Use Momentum to continue, finish, or end the workout. A missing activity alone does not mean your workout ended.
